These terms of use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the website pgi-publication.com (the “Site”) and the digital publication The PAUL® Glaucoma Implant (the “Publication”) made available through it. The Site is operated by Kugler Publications, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (“Kugler”, “we”, “us”, “our”).
By registering for an account, accessing chapters, or downloading any part of the Publication, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not register or use the Site.
1. About the Publication
The PAUL® Glaucoma Implant is a clinical textbook edited by Victor Koh, Paul Chew, and Keith Barton, published by Kugler Publications (ISBN 978-90-6299-335-2), and made available in digital form for free access after registration. Production of the digital edition is supported by Advanced Ophthalmic Innovations (AOI), Singapore, the manufacturer of the PAUL® Glaucoma Implant.
2. Eligibility and registration
Access is intended for ophthalmologists, ophthalmic surgeons, trainees, researchers, and other healthcare professionals with a legitimate interest in glaucoma surgery.
To register you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age;
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration;
- Verify your email address when prompted;
- Keep your account credentials confidential and not share them with others.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us at info@pgi-publication.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
3. License to use the content
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Kugler grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Access and view the chapters and videos on the Site;
- Download chapter PDFs and the full-book PDF for your own personal, professional, and educational use.
Each PDF you download is personalized with your name and email address as a license marker and is locked against modification, content copying, page assembly, and commenting. This personalization is a technical measure to help enforce the terms of your license — please do not attempt to remove or alter it.
4. Restrictions
You may not:
- Redistribute, republish, share, sell, sublicense, or otherwise make available any part of the Publication to third parties, including uploading to file-sharing sites, social networks, cloud drives, institutional repositories, or messaging apps;
- Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, license, watermark, or personalization information contained in the Publication;
- Use automated tools (scrapers, crawlers, bots) to bulk-download content, or attempt to circumvent access controls including download rate limits;
- Use the Publication or any part of it for commercial purposes without prior written permission from Kugler;
- Impersonate another person, provide false information, or share your account with others.
If a colleague wants access, please direct them to register for free and it takes less than a minute.
5. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — including but not limited to text, figures, tables, videos, layout, branding, and software — is the property of Kugler Publications, the individual chapter authors, or the respective licensors, and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. All rights are reserved except for the limited license granted in Section 3.
PAUL® is a registered trademark of Advanced Ophthalmic Innovations (AOI).
6. Sponsorship and editorial independence
Production of this digital edition is supported by AOI, manufacturer of the PAUL® Glaucoma Implant. The editors and contributing authors retained full editorial control over content. AOI did not review or approve individual chapter content prior to publication and does not review or approve editorial revisions or errata. Author disclosures and conflict-of-interest statements are provided in the individual chapters where applicable.
7. Not medical advice
The Publication is intended as a reference for qualified healthcare professionals. It is not intended as, and must not be relied upon as, medical advice for any individual patient. Clinical decisions must always be made by a qualified clinician on the basis of the individual patient’s circumstances and current standards of care.
While the editors, authors, and publisher have taken reasonable care in preparing this Publication, they do not warrant that the content is complete, accurate, or up to date, and they accept no responsibility for any loss or harm arising from reliance on the content. 9. Availability, changes, and errata
We aim to keep the Site available and the content up to date, but we do not warrant uninterrupted access. We may:
- Update chapters or issue errata — you will be notified via the “My downloads” section of your account when a chapter you have previously downloaded is updated, and (if you have opted in to email updates) also by email;
- Suspend the Site temporarily for maintenance;
- Modify or discontinue features at any time.
10. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account, without notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms — including through redistribution of content, sharing of credentials, or bulk-scraping. You may delete your account at any time by contacting info@pgi-publication.com.
11. Disclaimers and liability
The Site and Publication are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Kugler Publications, its editors, authors, affiliates, and sponsor (AOI) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site or Publication.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Material changes will be brought to registered users’ attention via email or an on-site notice. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
13. Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of The Netherlands. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer-protection law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
