Conjunctival erosion: prevention and management

Abstract
Conjunctival erosion is a rare but important short-, medium-, and long-term complication of aqueous shunt surgery occurring a few times per hundred cases. Its causes are multifactorial but are usually related to surgical technique and the physiological response to surgery. Timely management is required to prevent infection. This chapter details the management of conjunctival erosion as well as pre-, intra-, and postoperative strategies to reduce the risk of occurrence.
